All that is Solid is an attempt at rearrangement of visuals and texts that are collected from national daily online newspapers. With the help of a written script, we reach the content of online news portals and accumulate visuals and texts of the daily news in a databank. While the texts consist of words from the news, the visuals are masked by drawings and photographs of body parts we prepared. Also, we draw the most mentioned words in the textual content at a given time and they are recorded so as to be selected and read within each news item. The recording of the most mentioned words continually is an effort to commit the intenseness of these words to memory.
All that is Solid comprises of computer-based manipulation of digital information that is stored in online databanks, and a filtration experiment on today’s media. In a way, it is an attempt of reduction of this information pile. If media offers a direct or manipulated representation of ever-changing social conditions, then selection and repetition of this data determines not only the contemporary political agenda, but also influences our daily lives.
