interzone, 2008.

Interzone is a video project influenced by William S. Burroughs’ 1959 novel, Interzone. My aim is to create a space by combining borrowed images of abandoned places from the internet with some sentences quoted from Burroughs’ first story in the book, Twilight’s Last Gleamings. The text is static, with some parts highlighted randomly with the help of a code. The images of abandoned places overlap the text 3 seconds at a time. On the whole, Interzone is an attempt to form an alternative space for reading Burroughs’ text.

Flash video, loop.

Many thanks to Burak Kuyucaklı for the technical support.
